Easter

I had a four day weekend because of the Easter holiday, so Caitie and I got to spend some serious R&R time together.  The weather was grey and nasty, so we mostly hid out in our flat and watched too many episodes of Prison Break (the show gets increasingly less interesting in the 4th season, but we're watching anyway).  It wasn't all laziness, though, as we went for some long runs and Caitie actually had to go to work on Saturday and Monday (Sweaty Betty never shuts down!). 

Our Easter wasn't very traditional, but we had fun nevertheless. We began with a run through Primrose Hill and on the way home we encountered a guy who looked like Gandolf from Lord of The Rings - long white beard, crazy white hair - only this guy wasn't wearing a cape, just some corduroy pants and pair of birkenstock sandals. He pointed at a church and asked if we wanted to "Make a joyful noise" with him. The sentiment was nice, and the church was lovely, but we were drenched in rain and sweat and we didn't think anyone would be to joyful about having to sit next to us. 

Later, we got ourselves dressed up a bit and went out to lunch at French cafe near Caitie's work. It was cold and gray, but we opted to sit outside and watch all the people meander down the High Street after their services and Easter Brunches. It was great people watching. And to top it all off, we spotted another celebrity: Russell Brand of "Forgetting Sara Marshall" fame. He looked diveshelved, lost and hysterical. 

After brunch we strolled through the village and stared in envy at all the impressive homes around Hampstead Heath, imagining what it would be like to be English millionaires with family fortunes dating back as far as the black plague. Then we went walking in the heath and discovered a gigantic carnivale, where we bought some imitation "soft-serve" ice cream from a Cadbury's van (it tasted like cold whip cream).  We found this entirely disappointing, so much so that we resorted to buying McFlurries from McDonalds to restore our taste buds.

We missed our families a ton, but were glad we got to skype and chat with them. Hope everyone had a great holiday!
